Teaching and Mentoring

I have experience in developing and teaching graduate-level plant genetics/genomics and advanced plant genomics tools/methods in crops courses, a graduate course on genomics-assisted molecular breeding in crops, an undergraduate course Introduction to Crop Science and Crop Science Lab (hands-on doing exercises).

Teaching

Course Taught and *Co-Taught with Other Professors:

1. CSES2101L: Introduction to Crop Science (Spring-2022)

2. *HORT6033: Genetic Techniques in Molecular Plant Breeding (Fall-2019)

3. *CSES5553: Plant Genomics (Spring 2018 and 2022)

Mentoring

I have been fortunate to mentor more than 18 undergraduate and graduate students. Many undergraduate students have worked with me to screen rice diversity accessions in the greenhouses and field conditions under drought and heat stress to understand abiotic stress resistance mechanisms. I have mentored Ph.D. students in designing their experiments, collecting phenomics data, and using high-throughput equipment (LICOR machine and PhotosynQ) in greenhouses and fields conditions under abiotic stresses. Moreover, I have trained both undergraduate and graduate students in treating rice plants at several growth stages for grain yield and quality traits under abiotic stress
